Fantasia Barrino
Fantasia Barrino (born June 30, 1984, in North Carolina) became a winner in the third season of “American Idol.” She joined the Broadway cast of the musical “The Color Purple” in 2008. Her autobiography “Life is Not a Fairy Tale” was published in 2005 and adapted into a TV movie the following year.
Reprising her Broadway role in her major motion picture debut, Fantasia stars in the modern adaptation of The Color Purple (2023), produced by Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, and Quincy Jones. Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning timeless novel, directed by Blitz Bazawule, with a script by Marcus Gardley and music by Marsha Norman, has returned to the big screen for the first time in four decades.
