Kristina Kudelova

She was born in 1977 in a small slovak town Sala. She studied journalism and the French literature (1995 – 2000, Comenius University, Bratislava, Slovakia), then went to Paris to spend some months studing film production and directing (CIFAP, Paris, France). After she finished her studies at the University, she made two documentaries. The first one was about the most famous writer in Slovakia, who was a social outsider all his life and was never really accepted even in the small village he lived in. It won the prize of the Slovak film critics for the best documentary in 2000. The second film was a story about a French lady who married a Slovak politician in 1918 became a genuine witness of the Czechoslovak history, until she died in 2002. This film has been broadcast by the Slovak public television RTVS regularly since 2001. Kudelova thought her professional career would be bound to the filmmaking and television forever. But then she got a chance to work for the most-read newspaper in Slovakia. She has been working for the SME daily newspaper for the past 21 years now. She is a film critic and a reporter. She attends and covers festivals such as Cannes, San Sebastian, Karlovy Vary, Venice and Berlin. She interviewed Johnny Depp, Robin Wright, Patricia Clarkson, Oliver Stone, Steven Soderbergh, Quentin Tarantino, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Lewitt, Tim Roth, Tim Robins, Ken Loach. She is a co-auther of a book called The Interview, published by Petitpress a.s in 2021. She is also a member of FIPRESCI.
