Peter Straughan

Peter Straughan is a screenwriter whose BAFTA award-winning, film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (co-written by Bridget O’Connor) featured a cast including Gary Oldman, Colin Firth and Benedict Cumberbatch. Straughan’s Hilary Mantel adaptation Wolf Hall (BAFTA and Golden Globe winner) aired on BBC television and its sequel, Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, is currently in production. His next project, Folio, examines the story behind a collection of Shakespeare’s works that were assembled seven years after his death.

Straughan penned the screenplay for Grant Heslov’s The Men Who Stare at Goats, an adaptation of Jon Ronson’s book that starred George Clooney. He went on to write John Madden’s The Debt, starring Helen Mirren, and Lenny Abrahamson’s Frank, starring Michael Fassbender. Straughan’s other adaptations include Our Brand Is Crisis, starring Sandra Bullock, and The Goldfinch, directed by John Crowley.
