Benjamin Scott

Benjamín Scott is the founder and editor-in-chief of Mundo Películas, one of the most influential independent film platforms in Latin America. Since 2014, he has built a strong presence as part of a new generation of film critics, creating impactful coverage from major festivals such as Cannes, Venice, Berlin, and San Sebastián, among others. His work bridges audiences across Latin America, Ireland, and the UK, with a growing focus on global cinema.

A professional publicist currently studying International Business in Ireland, he has complemented his academic background with formal studies in screenwriting in Chile and film criticism in Ireland. Since 2015, he has collaborated with many of Chile’s leading film festivals—a role that has organically extended to festivals and institutions across Latin America, including in Argentina. In addition to film journalism, he has contributed significantly to the visibility of Chilean and Ibero-American cinema, while maintaining an editorial voice that embraces international storytelling.

In 2016, he launched one of the region’s early podcast-style shows and currently serves as editor of Mundo Películas Magazine, a digital film journal highlighting outstanding international cinema with a distinct critical perspective. In 2021, he co-authored Frases de cine para volver a casa alongside Caso 63 creator Julio Rojas. The book offers a reflection on screenwriting and cinematic narrative, celebrating the often-overlooked work of screenwriters.

Mundo Películas has just expanded, launching an English-language version of its website to broaden its global audience and deepen its commitment to international film culture.
