Alexander Knox

Alexander Knox (born in Strathroy, Ontario, Canada, January 16, 1907, died April 25, 1995) moved to London, England in the 1930s where he acted on stage, he also acted in plays on Broadway. He acted in movies like The Sea Wolf (1941) directed by Michael Curtiz from the 1904 novel by Jack London, Over 21 (1941) by Charles Vidor with Irene Dunn. He played President Woodrow Wilson in the movie Wilson (1944) directed by Henry King. He acted with Rosalind Russell in Sister Kenny (1946), with Loretta Young in Paula (1952), with Ingrid Bergman in Europa ’51 (1952) by Roberto Rossellini, These Are the Damned (1963) and Modesty Blaise (1966) by Joseph Losey. On television Knox played Control in the BBC miniseries Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (1979) directed by John Irvin from the 1974 novel by John le Carré.
