James Whitmore
James Whitmore (born in White Plains, New York, October 1, 1921, died February 6, 2009), a stage actor, acted in movies like Battleground (1949) by William Wellman starring Van Johnson, The Asphalt Jungle (1950) by John Huston with Sterling Hayden, Above and Beyond (1952) with Robert Taylor, Oklahoma! (1955) directed by Fred Zinnermann from the 1943 stage musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein. He played President Harry Truman in Give ‘Em Hell, Harry! (1975). He acted in The Shawshank Redemption (1994) by Frank Darabont with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, The Majestic (2001) also by Darabont, starring Jim Carrey.
