Joan Allen (born in Rochelle, Illinois, August 20, 1956) started acting on stage in 1977 with the Steppenwolf Theater Company, she acted in movies like Tucker: The Man and His Dream (1988) by Francis Ford Coppola, Ethan Frome (1993) by John Madden, Searching for Bobby Fisher (1993) by Steven Zaillian, Nixon (1995) by Oliver Stone with Anthony Hopkins, The Crucible (1996) from the play by Arthur Miller, The Ice Storm (1997) by Ang Lee, Face/Off (1997) by John Woo, Pleasantville (1998) by Gary Ross, The Contender (2000) by Rod Lurie with Jeff Bridges, The Upside of Anger (2005) with Kevin Costner, Room (2015). She played CIA Director Pamela Landy in The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) starring Matt Damon, The Bourne Legacy (2012) with Jeremy Renner. On television Allen acted in The Misfits of Avalon (2001), Lisey’s Story (2021) with Julianne Moore, played the painter in Georgia O’Keefe (2009) with Jeremy Irons as photographer Alfred Stieglitz.
