Michael Gambon (born in Dublin, Ireland, October 19, 1940, died September 27, 2023), a theater actor, acted on television in miniseries like The Singing Detective (1986) by Dennis Potter, Path to War (2002) by John Frankenheimer. He acted in movies like Othello (1965) with Laurence Olivier, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989) by Peter Greenaway with Helen Mirren, The Wings of the Dove (1997) with Helena Bonham Carter, Gosford Park (2001) by Robert Altman, Open Range (2003) by Kevin Costner, The King’s Speech (2010) with Colin Firth, Quartet (2012) directed by Dustin Hoffman, Victoria & Abdul (2017) by Stephen Frears with Judi Dench, Judy (2019) with Renée Zellweger. He replaced Richard Harris as headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter film series: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2010-2011).
