David Geffen

David Geffen (born February 21, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York) co-founded Asylum Records, Geffen Records, and, with Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg, DreamWorks SKG. In music, he helped launch or shape careers including Eagles, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, Neil Young, and Guns N’ Roses. In film, DreamWorks backed works such as American Beauty, Little Shop of Horrors, Gladiator, and Saving Private Ryan. In TV, DreamWorks Television produced series including Spin City and Band of Brothers. As a billionaire, he has donated money to medical and artistic endeavors, with several buildings named after him, such as The Geffen Playhouse and The David Geffen School of Medicine.
