Tom Stoppard

Tom Stoppard (born as Tomas Straussler on July 3, 1937 in Zlin, Czech Republic; died Nov. 29, 2025 in England) was a prolific playwright, starting with “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead,” and continuing with “Travesties,” “The Real Thing,” “Arcadia” and “The Coast of Utopia,” among many others. In film, he won a Golden Globe for the screenplay of Shakespeare in Love (shared with Marc Norman). He also wrote or cowrote scripts for films including Brazil, Empire of the Sun and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
