John Ridley
John Ridley (born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, October 1, 1965), is an American screenwriter, novelist, and television director. He is best known for the screenplay of 12 Years a Slave thanks to which he earned his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Screenplay Motion Picture in 2014. In cinema, he has written several screenplays, such as Undercover Brother (2002), Red Tails (2012), Jimi: All Is by My Side (2014). For TV, after several projects he got great success creating and show running the anthology crime drama American Crime (3 seasons, 2015 – 2017), thanks to which he received two Golden Globe nominations in 2016 and 2017.
