Guilherme de Alencar Pinto
Guilherme de Alencar Pinto was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1960. He has lived in Uruguay since 1986. He is a professor of Music and Film at the Faculty of Communication at the ORT University, Montevideo. He is a journalist (writing for Brecha, La Diaria and others) and researcher. He is the author of the books RAZONES LOCAS / EL PASO DE EDUARDO MATEO POR LA MÚSICA URUGUAYA (1994) and LOS QUE IBAN CANTANDO / DETRÁS DE LAS VOCES (2013). He has produced and arranged several records of Uruguayan popular music. In film, he has worked as a technician (assistant director and production assistant, film and sound editing, music production) in France and Brazil, in advertising, animated shorts and feature films. He has made (providing creation, direction, camera, editing, sound) two experimental short films in super 8 in Brazil: RUA SEM SAÍDA (É PROIBIDO JOGAR LIXO NESTE LOCAL) (1983) and O MAR QUANDO QUEBRA NA PRAIA É BONITO É BONITO (1984). He was president of the Uruguayan Film Critics Association (ACCU) from 2016 to 2022.
