Celebrating our Golden Globe Winners: The 1940s
As told by our colleagues Jean Paul Chaillet and Juliette Michaud in the fascinating history you can read here, the 1940s were momentous days in Hollywood. Leading men like Clark Gable, Robert Taylor, James Stewart and Henry Fonda, were fighting at the front. Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Mickey Rooney and Gene Kelly worked the USO circuit. Many European filmmakers had sought refuge here, including Fritz Lang, Billy Wilder, Jean Renoir and many others. And in 1944 a small group of journalists held an intimate ceremony to award the first Golden Globes. As we wait for the 75thThe Song of Bernadette.
