Golden Globes Around the World Podcast: Nitza Shaul on “The Policeman”

In celebration of Israel’s 75th Independence Day, Hollywood Foreign Press Association member and Israeli journalist David Caspi hosts this episode of our Golden Globes Around the World podcast series saluting The Policeman, the 1971 Golden Globe winner for Best Foreign Language Film, widely regarded as the most beloved Israeli feature of all time.
The film, a collaborative defining moment in the careers of both writer-director Ephraim Kishon and star Shaike Ophir, follows a low-ranking constable, Sgt. Abraham Azoulay (Ophir), whose kindness and innocence overshadow his competence and ultimately trample his dreams of getting a long-awaited promotion.
Actress Nitza Shaul, who starred in the film opposite Ophir in her first acting role, joins us in this podcast episode to share stories from behind the scenes, reflect on its international success and discuss more of her stand out roles in Israeli cinema.
