It’s taken four years for actor/director Diego Luna to get his biopic Cesar Chavez to the screen. It is the first English language film he has directed and it was a passion project not only for him but the film’s stars Michael Peña (Cesar Chavez) and America Ferrara (Helen Chavez) who talk to the HFPA’s Katherine Tulich about how important it was to bring the story of the renowned activist and labor rights leader to the screen.
