Another Sundance in the Books

As the 2016 Sundance Film Festival comes to a close we look back at ten days of exciting films. HFPA members in attendance crossed paths with Park City veterans such as Todd Solondz (Wiener Dog) as well as first time directors like “The Daniels” (Swiss Army Man) and Richard Tanne (Southside With You). Some were first time Sundancers and many other familiar faces like Greta Gerwig (Wiener Dog), Allison Janney (Tallulah) and Matt Damon, fresh from his Golden Globes win in town to promote Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester-by-the-Sea, which he produced.

Some had been to the festival before, albeit many years ago, like Viggo Mortensen here for Captain Fantastic by Matt Ross. Others still were special guests like Sting who stopped by the ASCAP Music Café for a concert in support of Jim: The James Foley Story. There were snow flurries, late night parties, interminable lines and a few real memorable moments, such as the Eccles premiere screening of The Birth of a Nation, which brought the capacity audience to its feet. It confirmed that Sundance remains an important place of discussion at the center of independent cinema and of popular culture. We hope you enjoyed the coverage from HFPA reporters Elisabeth Sereda, Scott Orlin, Sam Asi, Gabriel Lerman, Silvia Bizio, Ana Maria Bahiana, Luca Celada and the entire GoldenGlobes.com team.
