Women’s History Month: Producer Lynda Obst
The man in the business called her “little lady”, but this female producer, one of the first in Hollywood, is a giant. With 28 credits, she started her career on Flashdance and was the force behind such mega-hits as Sleepless in Seattle, One Fine Day, Contact and Interstellar. For TV, she made The Soul Man, Hot in Cleveland and the recent The Hot Zone (about a virus outbreak) among others. She talks to the HFPA’s Ramzi Malouki about how the industry has changed and being a female powerhouse in Hollywood.
