From the (Not Always) Red Carpet: The Shoes of Summer
Shoes are undergoing a major shift. Depending where you are in the fashion spectrum – cutting edge, leading a trend, or working with what you have – there are many styles out there. To some extent that is a reflection of the power of women. No longer slave to the trend, it’s okay to wear what you want, what makes sense and is comfortable to you. Unless as a deliberate statement, platforms are on the wane although they will always be the go-to choice of petite women who want to add height. The spike heel never goes out of style, but just as your toes are warning you that if you ever want to show them in public again, without corns, you might not want to wear the severe point/cheese wedge toe too often, the top houses are beginning to trend a softening silhouette, rounder toes and fatter heels. Ankle features are here to stay, though often less is more.
