It was as though the political climate had sucked the color from the choices on the carpet. But there were exceptions. When color appeared it was often muted. Salmon, pink and dusty rose were seen, but so were ash and faded violet. The young sophisticates challenged the trend with bright optimism and as they made their way up the carpet they introduced a rainbow of hues. Yellow surfaced as predicted.
