Welcome to a new crop of actresses. Julia Garner and Hannah Einbinder the two repeats of the five nominees with Ms. Garner receiving two nominations in two different categories this year.

 

Creative with flair both on screen and off, their fashion choices are worthy of a close-up. Let’s break down their style choices on the carpet.

Above:

Julia Garner was nominated in 2021 for Ozark and is nominated again this year for the same show in the Best Supporting Actress – Television, category. She also picked up a nom this year, for Inventing Anna: Best Actress – Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture.

 

Ms. Garner has shown style knowledge in her red carpet-choices. They are always spectacular, and often include a nod to the lexicon of fashion. We could wax lyrical – we won’t.

 

Expect: a statement of style and fashion.

 

Elizabeth Debicki, the Auzzie actress was born in Paris, France and that may account for her impeccable style. You may recall her from The Night Manager, The Great Gatsby (2023) Tenet (2020) and now the Golden Globe nomination for The Crown. 

 

Her style is simple and understated. At 6’3″ she understands that minimalism is shown to great advantage with her height. The focus is on fabric and cut.

 

Expect: a flowing skirt with interesting bodice/shoulder detail.

 

 

The Abbott Elementary star brings heart and humor to her role showing her comedic roots. Janelle James‘ red carpet choices are anything but laughable however. 

 

Like her writing, her clothes reflect underestimated ease. She leans towards solids with an unusual focus. On the (l) she is red carpet ready in a clinging black three quarter length dress with cutouts on the shoulders, magnifying width, and showcasing her narrow waist. That she’s chosen our fav ankle strap sandal reflects her style IQ.

 

(r) We love this dress which is not easy to pull off. The dusty peach fabric clings sensuously but not overtly. The cutout on the midriff is on point but subtly so. She’s gone with a classic pump, and glossy locks. Don’t overlook the neck detail. Chokers flared in Cannes and we can expect to see them in diamonds and gold at the Golden Globes.

 

Look for: Classic shoe choices, sensual fabric, and style savvy.

 

Below: The former Miss Black Teenage New York understands spotlight moments. This actress/singer – who’s the youngest woman to graduate from Rutgers University – is, along with her co-star (see above) also nominated for Abbott Elementary in the Best Performance By An Actress Musical-Comedy or Drama Television.

 

Sheryl Lee Ralph presents for the occasion with glamour gowns, incredible posture, and hair groomed to showcase her classic bone structure. She’s unafraid of vibrant colors.

 

(l) The red satin catches the light and eye. The asymmetrical bodice provides drama.

 

(r) The lipstick pink fabric and interesting arm detail ensure no one will pass her by.

 

Expect: stunning style, strong hue.

Hannah Einbinder is nominated as the complicated comedy writing assistant in Hacks. This is her second nomination for that role.

 

Style choices are clear: the comedian has a penchant for trousers, and while dresses have featured, stand-out suits, tuxes, and trousers have made statements on the carpet.

 

Counting Laraine Newman (SNL) and comedy writer, Chad Einbinder, as parents, no doubt cemented Einbinder’s comedic timing. Hair is usually blunt cut with an off-center part. The focus is on fabric.

 

The Beverly Hills native gives a nod to trends with colors – note the green hues above which popped at Paris Fashion Week.

 

(l) Love the use of a smoking jacket and bow tie on the carpet.

 

(r) The silk blouse with wrap-belt detail is a work of art. The sunglasses, little purse, and stacked-heel boots declare this ‘fashion’.

 

Expect: a tailored suit in a lush fabric or a full-on tux.
