This year’s Miss Golden Globe has been announced – and 21-year-old Sosie Bacon has perfect credentials because her parents, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, are both former Golden Globe winners. And now Sosie is looking forward to following in her parents’ footsteps onto the stage at the 71st Golden Globe Awards on January 12. “I’ve been to the Golden Globes once before and it was such fun,” she says. “I was about 16 years old and I went with my mother the year she won. My parents have always had such a good relationship with the HFPA and the Golden Globes, so they are very supportive of me being Miss Golden Globe. “I think the HFPA is a great organization and does so much charity work, which is something I’ve been involved in too. Also, I love the fact that it supports both television and film, which most award shows don’t do.”

But before the big night Sosie will be doing a series of interviews and photo shoots which began with the Miss Golden Globe announcement at a star-studded party thrown by InStyle and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at the Fig and Olive in West Hollywood. Among the guests was last year’s Miss Golden Globe, Francesca Eastwood, daughter of Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher who introduced Sosie.

HFPA president Theo Kingma said the tradition of Mr. and Miss Golden Globe was born 50 years ago when it was decided that the son or daughter of established actors should be on stage to assist with the Golden Globe presentations. He said that many former Miss Golden Globes, including Linda Evans, Melanie Griffith, Laura Dern and Dakota Johnson have gone on to successful acting careers, adding: “This year’s honoree is also a talented actress in her own right whom I am sure we will hear and see a lot of in the future.” Sosie, a budding actress and transplanted New Yorker who is doing the rounds of auditions while she is in Los Angeles says: “I’m really looking forward to the next few months. I go back and forth between New York and L.A. and I’ve been auditioning pretty much non-stop…dramatic roles, some comedy…everything. “I’m all in.”

Sosie, who had her first acting role when she was 10 years old in the movie Loverboy, which was directed by her father, has also appeared in four episodes of her mother’s TV show Closer and last year joined the cast of the off-Broadway rock musical Fiction in Photographs. Her mother won her Golden Globe in 2007 for The Closer and her father’s win was in 2010 for his role in the TV movie Taking Chance.
