Venice Fashion: A White Opening
There was almost as much white off-screen as on: while the festival audience on opening night watched climbers fighting for their lives on a snow covered Everest, the two most glamorous members of the jury walked the red carpet in breathtaking white gowns. Elizabeth Banks dazzled in a backless Dolce & Gabbana while Diane Kruger wore a sweet but sexy Prada. Both designs had trains.
The film may have inspired the looks because Banks and Kruger weren’t the only stars in white. Actress Paz Vega and model Alessandra Ambrosio also followed the unspoken
dress code.
Banks – a pro in front and behind the camera – did the smart thing for the dinner and afterparty. Unwilling to drag a train through the sand on the beachside location where a see-through tent was built for the festivities, she changed into a sparkly Jenny Packham cocktail dress after the premiere.
