Vince Vaughn is a veteran of many roles, but be ready to be surprised when you see him Brawl in Cell Block 99, written and directed by S. Craig Zahler, a new talent to be watched. Vince has just finished work on Dragged Across Concrete, another collaboration with Zahler, who also scores his own movies in a smart, non-manipulative way. We asked Vince to tell us how music helps him as an actor.
“Well, I think music takes you the farthest and fastest emotionally, it’s very personal. You can definitely use music to put you in a mood or a point of view for characters or just a point of life. Music is extremely powerful. I use music occasionally for certain scenes and certain mindsets or putting myself in a certain state. It’s just another way to get to an emotional place that you want to be in. And I love how Craig uses music in this film. He wrote all the music and the songs.”
