Raised in West Virginia, Golden Globe winner Jennifer Garner loves bluegrass- more often than not, that’s what’s she’s listening on her headphones when she is on set. Things were different on the set of her latest movie, The Tribes of Palos Verdes, where she takes a very dramatic turn playing the wife and mother of two old teenagers on the edge of a nervous breakdown.
“Through this movie, I asked the directors (Brendan and Emmett Malloy) what music inspires you and where do you think, because they really wanted this movie to have a timeless look and I said what was it? And they said Cat Stevens and James Taylor, but more obscure songs. When I made Miracles From Heaven I asked the woman that I played in the movie, Christy Beam, what are your favorite hymns? And I made myself a playlist, and that is a through line for me through that whole very emotional movie. And I ended up loving also that beautiful soundtrack by Carlo Siliotto.”
