Bob Odenkirk, Marcia Gay Harden Win at the 56th Monte-Carlo Television Festival

Despite the rain, the 56th Monte-Carlo Television Festival finished in glitter and glamour with the presence of many celebrities of the small screen such as Golden Globe nominee Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) or Marcia Gay Harden (Black Code) and Golden Globe winner Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent). For over a half-century the festival has focused exclusively on television, with screenings, panels and q&a sessions, many if them open to the public.Over 300 journalists from around the world were present to cover this unique international television festival.

The Monte-Carlo Television Festival ends with the Golden Nymph Award Ceremony, with winners of the Official Competition receiving awards fashioned after the sculpture La nymphe Salmacis,created by François Joseph Bosio of Monaco, Senior Sculptor to king Louis VIII of France (the original can be seen at the Louvre).

The Golden Nymphs are awarded in a star-studded ceremony at Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum to television films, mini-series, drama and comedy series and news documentaries, with additional accolades including the International TV Audience Award and the Prince Rainier III Special Prize.

Stars from leading US and international TV shows were in attendance, including, among many others, Scorpion, Hawaii 5:0, CSI, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, Chicago Med, Poldark, Blindspot, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Code Black, Private Eyes and Bosch.

Better Call Saul won Best Comedy TV Series, Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe) won a Best Actress, Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) was Best Actor in the comedy category. River won best Drama TV Series, Marcia Gay Harden (Code Black), Best Actress and Jonas Nay (Deutschland 83) Best Actor in the drama category.

The Audience Awards went to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Best Drama Series; Best Comedy TV Series went to The Big Bang Theory and Best Soap Opera went to The Bold & The Beautiful.
