DEATH OF A SALESMAN GETS A NEW LIFE

A fully restored copy of Death Of A Salesman, László Benedek’s 1951 film adaption from the play of the same name by Arthur Miller, will premiere on August 9 at the Armand Hammer Museum in Los Angeles as part of the UCLA Film Archives screenings.

The HFPA financed the restoration through Martin Scorsese’s Film Foundation (TFF) and will host a reception prior to the screening.
  Tickets to the screening cost $10.
“Death Of A Salesman” with Fredric March in the lead role as Willy Loman was awarded four Golden Globes: Best Director: László Benedek; Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama: Fredric March; Best Cinematography – Black and White: Franz F. Planer; New Star of the year – Actor: Kevin McCarthy, who played Willy Loman’s son Biff.
Since 1996 the HFPA has donated several million dollars for the restoration of 37 classic films, among them the original King Kong (1933), Fellini’s La Strada (1954) and Stanley Kubrick’s Paths of Glory (1957).
