In honor of Earth Day we’re highlighting some Golden Globes nominated and/or winners that are either about the environment or have the word “earth” in the title.
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which events are held worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network, and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year.

1) Erin Brockovich (2000) – An unemployed single mother becomes a legal assistant and almost single-handedly brings down a California Power Company accused of polluting a city’s water supply.

2) Into The Wild (2007) – After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.

3) Wall-E (2008) – In the distant future, a small waste collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind.

4) The Pillars of the Earth (2010) – Set against a backdrop of war, religious strife and power struggles which tears lives and families apart.

6) The Greatest Show on Earth (1952) – The dramatic lives of trapeze artists, a clown, and an elephant trainer against a background of circus spectacle.

7) From the Earth to theMoon(1998) – Dramatized
portrayal of the Apollo manned space program.

8) Heaven & Earth (1993) – The final movie in Oliver Stone’s Vietnam trilogy follows the true story of a Vietnamese village girl who survives a life of suffering
and hardship during and after the Vietnam War.
As a freedom fighter, a hustler, young mother, a sometime prostitute, and the wife of a U.S. Marine. Some critics have seen the girl’s relationships with men suggests a metaphor for Vietnam’s relationship to the U.S.
