Jonathan Demme is president of the Horizon Jury in Venice this year. He also was the recipient of the Persol Award for Visionary Talent which festival director Alberto Barbera presented to him at a ceremony at Sala Darsena. The director (most recently of Ricki and the Flash with Meryl Streep) said: “Venice is a beacon for great cinema (in all) its many versions. I think it’s a great honor to be here. It doesn’t get any better than being on the jury of the Orizzonti section”.
