Southpaw Stars Are All About Urban Sophistication

Recently, when we see Jake Gyllenhaal on the screen, he is barely recognizable, disappearing deep in character, changing his physique. In Nightcrawler he became an emaciated line drawing of himself, all long lines and scary eyes. In Southpaw he has beefed up for the role of a boxer. When he spoke to the HFPA he fit neither box, instead taking on the role of an urban sophisticate. Dressed from head to toe in Salvatore Ferragamo, he sported a heavy beard and hair that had been slicked back. 01-jakegyllenhaal-fash-0717.jpg His co-star, Rachel McAdams, has incredible range too – see her ravaged True Detective performance on HBO. Always elegant, she’s adventurous when it comes to fashion, and not afraid to team spike heels with a short skirt. Here she wears new designer, David Koma and Louboutin. Earrings by Jack Vartanian. 02b-racelmcadams-fashion-0717.jpg 50 Cent, who gives a subtle performance in the movie, looked nothing like his rapper image. Elegant in a suit by Ermenegildo Zegna, shirt by Theory, and shoes by Jimmy Choo, he brought the entire look together with a tie by Giorgio Armani. He accessorized the understated look with a girls’ best friend, a diamond watch and ring. 03-50cent-0717.jpg
