The Week in Fashion: Star Style in London and Venice

The past week has drawn some of the biggest names in the entertainment field. Charlotte Riley – wearing Haney – and husband, Tom Hardy, attended the London premiere of Legend, in which he portrays both infamous Krays, gangsters twins and the terror of London in the nineteen sixties. While the power couple were accessorized by Bulgari, some might say their ultimate accessory was each being the other’s plus one. Note that Hardy’s midnight blue suit and contrasting emerald tie continued the trend of color for men.

Another power couple was Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, each in Venice to promote their own films – Johnny’s Black Mass and Amber’s The Danish Girl. Depp proved again that red carpet ready or laid back, he always has panache, swapping the tux for a sporty green jacket.

Dakota Johnson’s tattoo may advocate “Look at the Moon” but the new fashion leader would have onlookers pressed to drag their eyes away from the star of 50 Shades of Grey, in Venice to promote Black Mass and A Bigger Splash.

At a luncheon reception offered by the HFPA in Venice, breakout star Alicia Vikander was fresh in Dagmar, foreshadowing another trend for women this season, the pleated skirt. Her Danish Girl co-star, Eddie Redmayne, was the epitome of the understated Brit, going sockless and subtle.

Elizabeth Banks, star of Venice’s opening movie, Everest, literally sparked in this dress by Dolce & Gabbana with a matching clutch. The fantasy sandals were by Christian Louboutin.
