French Box Office, August 26th, 2022

Bullet Train is back at 1st place. Directed by David Leitch with Brad Pitt, Joey King, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bullet Train is an action comedy about five assassins aboard a fast-moving bullet train who find out their missions have something in common. This week, the movie grossed $ $1,356,059 reaching a total of $7,127,218.

Minions: The Rise of Gru went up to 2nd place. Directed by Kyle Balda, Brad Ableson, and Jonathan del Val, the movie is about a twelve-year-old’s dream to become the world’s greatest supervillain.  The movie grossed this week $1,095,395 reaching a total of $25,117,363.

One Piece Film – Red is now at 3rd place Directed by Goro Taniguchi with Stephane Excoffier, Mayumi Tanaka, and Marie Braam, this animated movie is about Luffy and his crew  – they are about to attend an eagerly awaited music festival in which the daughter of the legendary pirate Shanks Le Roux will reveal her exceptional voice power, capable of changing the world. The movie grossed this week $ 1,048,616 reaching a total of $ 5,177,097.

The animated movie DC League of Super-Pets went up to 4th place. Directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine, the animated movie is about the new adventure of the super dog Krypto who must master his own powers for a rescue mission when his best friend Superman is kidnapped. The movie grossed $1,038,787 reaching  a total of $6,398,903.

Top Gun: Maverick went back to number 5th at the box office. Directed by Joseph Kosinski with Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and Jennifer Connelly, this sequel is about Pete “Maverick” Mitchell who continues to push his limits as a test pilot and in charge of training a detachment of young graduates from the Top Gun school for a special mission that no pilot would have ever imagined. The movie grossed $ 934,352 reaching out a total of $44,243,043.

The new French comedy Les vieux fourneaux 2: Bons pour l’asile premiered art number 6th. Directed by Christophe Duthuron with Pierre Richard, Eddy Mitchell, Bernard Le Coq, the comedy is about the adventures of refugees who find refuge in the legendary hospitality of a French village. The movie grossed $842,305.

New movie Orphan: First Kill made its debut s number 7th. Directed by William Brent Bell with Isabelle Fuhrman, Julia Stiles, and Rossif Sutherland, the horror movie takes place after a patient escapes from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels to America impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. The movie grossed $792,722. 

Nope went down 8th place.  Directed by Jordan Peele with Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun, the movie is about the inhabitants of a lost valley in the depths of California who witness a terrifying supernatural discovery. The movie grossed $767,084 reaching a total of $2,386,075.

Thor: Love and Thunder dropped from 5th to 9th at the box office in France. Directed by Taika Waititi with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale, the movie is about Thor fighting Gorr the God Butcher who intends to make the gods extinct. This week, the movie grossed $747,924 reaching out a total of $19,177,505.      

The new French comedy La très très grande classe dropped to 10th place. Directed by Olivier Baroux with Tarek Boudali, Artus, and Pauline Clément, the movie is about the adventures of a man called Jerome who never stops lying but one day all his lies are becoming real. The movie grossed $675,746 reaching a total of $2,815,639.
