French Box Office, August 5th, 2022

Thor: Love and Thunder is again number 1 at the box office in France. Directed by Taika Waititi with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale, the movie is about Thor fighting Gorr the God Butcher who intends to make the gods extinct.t This week, the movie grossed $2,697,451 reaching a total of $ 14,259,474.     

Minions: The Rise of Gru remains at 2nd place. Directed by Kyle Balda, Brad Ableson, and Jonathan del Val, the movie is about the dream of a 12-year-old who wants to become the world’s greatest supervillain. This week, the movie grossed $2,287,922 reaching out a total of $19,749,082.

The new animated movie DC League of Super-Pets arrived in 3rd place. Directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine, the animated movie is about the new adventure of the super dog Krypto who must master his own powers for a rescue mission when his best friend Superman is kidnapped. For the first week, the movie grossed $2,166,846.

Top Gun: Maverick jumped up to number 4th at the box office. Directed by Joseph Kosinski with Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and Jennifer Connelly, this sequel is about Pete “Maverick” Mitchell who continues to push his limits as a test pilot and in charge of training a detachment of young graduates from the Top Gun school for a special mission that no pilot would have ever imagined. This week, $1,224,470 reaching a total of $40,990,128.

The French comedy Ducobu Président ! dropped to 5th place. Directed by Elie Semoun, with Elie Semoun, Émilie Caen, and Gabin Tomasino, the movie is about Ducobu starting the new school year and trying to be elected the student president.  For the third week, the movie grossed $1,222,097 reaching a total of $4,665,655.

The French comedy called Menteur dropped too, from 4th to 6th place. Directed by Olivier Baroux with Tarek Boudali, Artus, and Pauline Clément, the movie is about the adventures of a man called Jerome who never stops lying but one day all his lies become real. The movie grossed $985,309 reaching a total of $3,779,058.

French comedy Joyeuse retraite! 2 dropped to 7th place Directed by Fabrice Bracq with Michèle Laroque, Thierry Lhermitte, and Constance Labbé, the movie is about a retired couple with their grandchildren who discovered that their vacation house is still under construction. The movie grossed this week $599,943 reaching a total of $1,461,289.

The Night of the 12th jumped up to number 8th in the box office. Directed by Dominik Moll with Bastien Bouillon, Bouli Lanners, and Théo Cholbi, the movie is about an investigator haunted by the murder of a girl called Clara. For this week, the movie grossed $472,088 reaching a total of $1,566,025.        

Jurassic World: Dominion is now 9th at the box office. The movie is directed by Colin Trevorrow with Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Laura Dern, and takes place four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar when dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside humans all over the world. This week, the movie grossed $436,234 reaching a total of $24,201,648.

Musical biopic Elvis came back up to 10th place. Directed by Baz Luhrmann with Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, and Olivia DeJonge, the movie is about the life of “The King” and his complicated relationship with his manager Colonel Tom Parker. The movie grossed $380,523 reaching a total of $6,981,754.
