French Box Office, December 29th, 2022

Avatar: The Way of Water is still number 1 at France’s box office. Directed by James Cameron with Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Sigourney Weaver, Avatar: The Way of Water takes place a decade after the events chronicled in the first film and tells the story of the members of the Sully family. The movie grossed $21,718,708 for already a total of $60,471,340.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish remains at number 2 at the French box office. . Directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, the movie is about Puss in Boots, who discovers that his passion for adventure has burned through eight of his nine lives. The movie grossed $2,514,834 reaching a total of $10,021,627.

Ernest and Celestine: A Trip to Gibberitia is also staying in 3rd place. Directed by Julien Chheng and Jean-Christophe Roger, the animated movie is about Ernest and Célestine returning to Ernest’s country to have his broken violin repaired, but they discover that music is banned throughout the country. The movie grossed $783,345 reaching a total of $1,645,689.

Moonbound lost one spot and is now in 4th place. Directed by Ali Samadi Ahadi, the movie is about a young boy who embarks on an intergalactic mission to save his little sister from the clutches of a vengeful man on the moon. The movie grossed $768,573 for a total of $2,725,186.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is staying in 5th place. Directed by Ryan Coogler with Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, and Danai Gurira, the movie is about the people of Wakanda fighting to protect their home from intervening world powers as they mourn the death of King T’Challa.. The movie grossed $689,097 reaching a total of $30,943,346.    

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile stays in 6th place. Directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck with Javier Bardem, Winslow Fegley, and the voice of Shawn Mendes, the movie is based on the children’s book about a crocodile that lives in New York City. The movie grossed $598,940 for a total of $2,426,675.    

The French comedy Le parfum vert premiered in number 7. Directed by Nicolas Pariser with Sandrine Kiberlain, Vincent Lacoste, and Rüdiger Vogler, the movie is about an actor who died on stage in the middle of a performance after being poisoned. A troupe member becomes a primary suspect while being chased by a mysterious organization named the Green Perfume. The movie grossed $485,989.

Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody just came to the French box office in 8th place. Directed by Anthony McCarten with Naomi Ackie, Stanley Tucci, and Tamara Tunie, the movie is a celebration of the life and music of Whitney Houston. The movie grossed $398,874.

Le tourbillon de la vie premiered in number 9. Directed by Olivier Treiner with Lou de Laâge, Raphaël Personnaz, and Isabelle Carré, the movie is about an 80-year-old who reflects on the decisions and circumstances that happened in her life which could have led her down different paths. The movie grossed $379,988.

Le Petit Piaf just came in the box office at 10th place. Directed by Gérard Jugnot with Marc Lavoine, Soan Arhimann, and Gérard Jugnot, the movie is about a 10-year-old from Réunion who dreams of being a singer and taking part in a contest. He will get a Parisian singer to be his coach but they do not get along. The movie grossed $359,879.
