French Box Office, January 27, 2023

Avatar: The Way of Water remains number one in the box office in France. Directed by James Cameron with Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver. Avatar: The Way of Water is happening a decade after the events chronicled in the first film and tells the story of the members of the Sully family. The movie grossed $7,394,464 for a total of $130,724,685.

Babylon premiered in second place. Taking place in the 1920s in Los Angeles, the movie traces the rise and fall of various characters during the creation of Hollywood, an era of boundless decadence and depravity. Directed by Damien Chazelle with Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Diego Calva, Babylon grossed $3,348,177.

La guerre des Lulus just came in the box office at number three. At the dawn of the First World War, in a village in Picardy, four inseparable friends, Lucas, Luigi, Lucien and Ludwig, form the Lulus gang. These orphans are always ready to join forces to face Octave’s rival band. Directed by Yann Samuell with Tom Castaing, Léonard Fauquet and Mathys Gros, the movie grossed $1,421,340.

Father & Soldier lost two spots and is now in fourth place. Directed by Mathieu Vadepied with Omar Sy, Alassane Diong and Jonas Bloquet, the movie is about a dad who enlists in the French army to join his son who has been forcibly recruited. Sent to the front, father and son will have to face the war together. The movie grossed $6,828,768.

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish lost two spots and is now number five in the French box office. Directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, the movie is about Puss in Boots who discovers that his passion for adventure has burned through eight of his nine lives. The movie grossed $1,043,213 reaching a total of $18,328,301.

Le clan came in the box office in sixth place. The movie is about four mobsters who, after miserably failing their last shot, decide to get back together by kidnapping Sophie Marceau. Directed by Eric Fraticelli with Eric Fraticelli, Denis Braccini and Philippe Corti, the movie grossed $677,037.

Two Tickets to Greece remains in seventh place. Directed by Marc Fitoussi with Laure Calamy, Olivia Côte and Kristin Scott Thomas, the movie is about two women who were inseparable as teenagers. After they lost sight of each other, their paths cross again and decide to take the trip they’ve always dreamed of together: going to Greece! The movie grossed $588,437 reaching a total of $1,905,471.

Youssef Salem a du succès premiered in number eight. Youssef always managed to miss his career as a writer, but trouble begins when his new novel meets with success. Directed by Baya Kasmi with Ramzy Bedia, Noémie Lvovsky and Abbes Zahmani. The movie grossed $464,689.  

The Offering is at ninth place. A family struggling with loss find themselves at the mercy of an ancient demon trying to destroy them from the inside. Directed by Oliver Park with Nick Blood, Emily Wiseman and Paul Kaye, the movie grossed $326,603 reaching a total of $984,169.

The Banshees of Inisherin is number ten. Two lifelong friends find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship. Directed by Martin McDonagh with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, the movie grossed $298,085 reaching a total of $2,470,685.
