French Box Office, June 24th, 2022

In France, Jurassic World: Dominion is the new number 1 at the box office. The movie directed by Colin Trevorrow with Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Laura Dern, takes place four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar when dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside humans all over the world. This week, the movie grossed $8,580,007 reaching a total of $13,756,986.

Top Gun: Maverick is now 2nd in France. Directed by Joseph Kosinski with Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and Jennifer Connelly, this sequel is about Pete “Maverick” Mitchell who continues to push his limits as a test pilot and in charge of training a detachment of young graduates from the Top Gun school for a special mission that no pilot would have ever imagined. The movie grossed this week $2,849,319 reaching a total of $27,819,726.

Incredible But True is the new French comedy, opening in the 3rd place.  Directed by Quentin Dupieux with Alain Chabat, Léa Drucker, and Benoît Magimel, this comedy is about a couple, Alain and Marie, who moved into a house and discovered a hatch located in the cellar that will upset their existence. The movie grossed $822,853 in the first week.

Champagne! is now in 4th place at the box office.  The movie directed by Nicolas Vanier with Elsa Zylberstein, François-Xavier Demaison, and Stéphane De Groodt is about a band of friends who find themselves in Champagne, France, for the bachelor party of Patrick, the last bachelor of the band. The movie grossed this week $1,304,915.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is in 4th place at the box office in France. The story about a journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange directed by Sam Raimi and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, grossed $394,000 reaching a total of $23,209,197.

Fratè is a new comedy in France, opening in 6th place. Directed by Karole Rocher and Barbara Biancardini with Thomas Ngijol, Samir Guesmi, and Marie-Ange Geronimi, it follows a man who discovers the existence of a brother, Lucien, with whom he will have to share the heritage left by his dad. The movie grossed $230,975.     

The new movie C’est magnifique! is now in 7th place. The French comedy directed by Clovis Cornillac and starring Lilou Fogli and Tristan Schulmann is about a man who discovers that he was adopted and must learn to survive in a modern society he has never known. The movie grossed $142,924 reaching a total of $1,077,446.     

The animated film The Bad Guys came back to the French Box office taking 8th place. Directed by Pierre Perifel, this adventure comedy from Dreamworks Animations chronicles the adventures of a gang of animals who are fearsome criminals looking for redemption. This week the film collected $140,103 for a total of $7,992,760.

Official Competition dropped to 9th place. Directed by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat with Penélope CruzAntonio Banderas, and Oscar Martinez, Official Competition is about a wealthy businessman who hires a famous filmmaker to help make a smash hit film. The film grossed $139,956 reaching a total of $833,716.

Men is in 10th place, dropping from its opening in 5th last week. Starring Jessie Buckley, Rory Kinnear, and Paapa Essiedu, Men is a horror movie about a young woman who goes on a solo vacation to the English countryside following the death of her ex-husband. The movie grossed this week $128,524 reaching a total of $410,364.
