Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stayed at number 1 at the box office in France. The story about a journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange directed by Sam Raimi and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, grossed $4,748,193 this week reaching a total of $17,634,123.
The Northman took in 2nd place. Directed by Robert Eggers with Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman, the movie is about a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father’s murder. For the first week, the movie grossed $866,363.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is now in 3rd place. Directed by David Yates, this adventure movie starring Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen about Albus Dumbledore’s new assignment to Newt grossed $865,070 reaching a total of $18,916,500.
Ténor is in 4th place. Directed by Claude Zidi Jr. and starring Michèle Laroque, MB14, and Guillaume Duhesme, this movie is about a young man from the suburbs of Paris who loves rap and whose hidden talent an opera teacher discovers grossed $682,090 reaching a total of $1,448,857.
Serial (Bad) Weddings 3 is now in 5th place. Directed by Philippe de Chauveron and starring Christian Clavier and Chantal Lauby, this French comedy about the adventures of this modern multi-racial French family grossed $666,020 reaching a total of $16,376,170.
In 6th place is Downton Abbey: A New Era, the sequel to the 2019 movie in which the King and Queen of Great Britain visited the Crawley family and Downton staff. The movie directed by Simon Curtis with Michelle Dockery, Tuppence Middleton, Maggie Smith, and Elizabeth McGovern grossed $644,330 reaching a total of $2,692,603.
In 7th place is a new French comedy, Les Folies Fermières. Based on a true story, the movie is directed by Jean-Pierre Améris with Alban Ivanov, Sabrina Ouazani and Michèle Bernier. The story is about a young peasant who has just had an idea to set up a cabaret on the farm to save it from bankruptcy. For the first week, the movie grossed $642,860.
The Duke is in 8th place. Directed by Roger Michell with Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren, The Duke is about a 60-year-old taxi driver who steals Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery in London. He accepts to return the painting only if the government makes television free for the elderly. This movie based on a true story grossed $546,220.
In 9th place is Les Segpa. Directed by Ali and Hakim Boughéraba starring Ichem Bougheraba, Walid Ben Amar, and Arriles Amrani, the movie follows the adventures of a group of bad students who surprisingly get accepted into a prestigious college. Les Segpa grossed $530,082 reaching a total of $4,026,601.
Ima closes the French box office in 10th place. Directed by Nils Tavernier with Dadju, Karidja Touré, and Djimon, the movie is about the singer Dadju falling in love with a fan during a private concert in his hometown, Kinshasa. Ima grossed $430,862.
