French Box Office, May 27h, 2022

Still very strong, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is again number 1 on the box office in France. The movie which follows Doctor Strange’s journey into the unknown is directed by Sam Raimi and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, has grossed $2,342,660 this week reaching a total of $18,323,488.

Final Cut just arrived on the French Box-office in 2nd place. Directed by Michel Hazanavicius with Romain Duris, Bérénice Bejo and Grégory Gadebois, the movie is about a director shooting a feature film about zombies who begins to have real zombies arriving on the set. The movie grossed for his first week $605,947.          

The Northman just lost one place and is now in 3rd place. Directed by Robert Eggers with Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman, the movie is about a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father’s murder. The movie grossed $525,198 reaching a total of $1,568,883.

J’adore ce que vous faites is coming in 4th place. Directed by Philippe Guillard with Gérard Lanvin, Artus and Antoine Bertrand, the movie follows French actor Gérard Lanvin who is preparing to shoot one of the most important films of his career in the south of France. To his greatest regret, his path crosses that of Momo Zapareto. The movie grossed $482,244.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is now in 5th place. Directed by David Yates, this adventure starring Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen follows Albus Dumbledore’s secrets amassed $428,089, reaching a total of $19,423,122.

Brother and Sister just arrived from Cannes to the French Box office in 6th place. Directed by Arnaud Desplechin with Marion Cotillard, Golshifteh Farahani and Melvil Poupaud, the movie is about two brothers – an actress and a poet-  who haven’t seen each other in a very long time. and now get together after their parents have died. The movie grossed $348,521 on the first week.        

Ténor is now in 7th place. Directed by Claude Zidi Jr. and starring Michèle Laroque, MB14 and Guillaume Duhesme, the movie is about a young man from the suburbs of Paris who loves rap and whose hidden talent for opera is dscoeverd by a music teacher. The picture has grossed $333,615 reaching a total of $1,865,399.

Serial (Bad) Weddings 3 is now in 8th place. Directed by Philippe de Chauveron and starring Christian Clavier and Chantal Lauby, this French comedy about the adventures of a modern multi-racial French family grossed $306,545 reaching a total of $16,690,786.

In 9th place is the movie Les Segpa. Directed by Ali and Hakim Boughéraba starring Ichem Bougheraba, Walid Ben Amar and Arriles Amrani, the movie is about adventures of a group of bad students fired from their school who got surprisingly accepted into a prestigious college. Les Segpa grossed $256,102 reaching a total of $4,231,959.

In 10th place, Downton Abbey: A New Era , the sequel from the 2019 movie, directed by Simon Curtis with Michelle Dockery, Tuppence Middleton, Maggie Smith and Elizabeth McGovern has grossed $238,681reaching a total of $2,943,855
