French Box Office, September 16th, 2022

Kompromat is the new number 1 in the French box office. Directed by Jérôme Salle with Gilles Lellouche, Joanna Kulig, and Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, the movie is about a French diplomat victim of a “Kompromat” – forged compromising documents used by the Russian secret services to harm an enemy of the state. Threatened with a life sentence, his only option is to escape. The movie grossed $1,232,257.

The Visitor from the Future is in 2nd place. This science-fiction comedy is directed by François Descraques with Florent Dorin, Arnaud Ducret, and Enya Baroux. The movie takes place in 2555 in a devastated future and the apocalypse threatens the Earth. The last hope rests on a man who can travel through time. The movie grossed $914,463.

The movie Paris Memories is number 3. Directed by Alice Winocour with Virginie Efira, Benoît Magimel, and Grégoire Colin, this movie is about a woman who survived a terrorist attack in Paris but is still so traumatized that she is unable to recall the events of that night. The movie grossed $820,839.       

Le Tigre et le Président is at 4th place. Directed by Jean-Marc Peyrefitte with Jacques Gamblin, André Dussollier, and Christian Hecq, the movie is about the victory in the French presidential election of the unknown Paul Deschanel against Georges Clemenceau. However, for reasons of his own mental health, Deschanel has vanished and France is looking for his President. The movie grossed $469,462.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is number 5. Directed by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert with Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis, this comedy action is about an aging Chinese immigrant who has the power to save the world by exploring other universes connecting with the lives she could have led. The movie grossed $437,235 reaching a total of $1,389,304.

From 2nd, Bullet Train is now at 6th place. Directed by David Leitch with Brad Pitt, Joey King, and Aaron Taylor-JohnsonBullet Train is an action comedy about five assassins aboard a fast-moving bullet train who find out their missions have something in common. This week, the movie grossed $425,272 reaching a total of $10,019,983.

Tad the Lost Explorer and The Curse of the Mummy lost four spots and is now number 7. Directed by Enrique Gato, the animated movie is about Tad Stones’ dream to be recognized as a great archaeologist. Unfortunately, by opening a sarcophagus, he triggers a curse that will put the lives of his friends in danger. To end this curse and save Mummy, Jeff, and Bernardo, Tad and Sara embark on new adventures all over the world. The movie grossed $399,448 getting a total of $2,468,343.         

From number 1, La degustation is now at 8th place. Directed by Ivan Calbérac with Isabelle Carré, Bernard Campan, and Mounir Amamra, the movie is about a divorced man who runs a small winery on the verge of bankruptcy. His life will change when a single woman sign-ups for a tasting workshop The movie grossed $375,810 reaching a total of $1,283,044.       

Everybody Loves Jeanne is number 9. Directed by Céline Devaux with Blanche Gardin, Laurent Lafitte and Maxence Tual, the movie is about a woman called Jeanne who is headed to Lisbon with plans to clear her debt by putting her mother’s apartment for sale. However, when she meets an old and strange friend called Jean at the airport, a lot of things change. The movie grossed $367,825.  

Les volets verts lost four spots and is now at 10th place. Directed by Jean Becker with Gérard Depardieu, Fanny Ardant, and Benoît Poelvoorde, the movie is the portrait of a sacred monster, Jules Maugin, an actor at the height of his glory in the 70s. Under the famous personality, the intimacy of a man is revealed. The movie grossed $251,793 reaching a total of $1,917,853.
