French Box Office, September 2nd, 2022

Tad the Lost Explorer and The Curse of the Mummy is the new number 1 at the French box office. Directed by Enrique Gato, the animated movie is about Tad Stones’ dream to be recognized as a great archaeologist. Unfortunately, by opening a sarcophagus, he triggers a curse that will put the lives of his friends in danger. To end this curse and save Mummy, Jeff, and Bernardo, Tad and Sara embark on new adventures all over the world. This week, the movie grossed $1,008,077.

Bullet Train lost one spot and is now at 2nd place. Directed by David Leitch with Brad Pitt, Joey King, and Aaron Taylor-JohnsonBullet Train is an action comedy about five assassins aboard a fast-moving bullet train who find out their missions have something in common. This week, the movie grossed $935,572 reaching a total of $8,429,647.

The new French comedy Rumba Therapy is in 3rd place. Directed by Franck Dubosc with Franck Dubosc, Louna Espinosa, and Jean-Pierre Darroussin, the movie is about a dad who is ready to do anything to get connected with his daughter. The movie grossed $834,378.

In its first week, Les volets verts opened in 4th place. Directed by Jean Becker with Gérard Depardieu, Fanny Ardant, and Benoît Poelvoorde, the movie is the portrait of a sacred monster, Jules Maugin, an actor at the height of his glory in the 70s. Under the famous personality, the intimacy of a man is revealed. The movie grossed $828,030. 

Top Gun: Maverick is still number 5th at the box office. Directed by Joseph Kosinski with Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and Jennifer Connelly, this sequel is about Pete “Maverick” Mitchell who continues to push his limits as a test pilot and in charge of training a detachment of young graduates from the Top Gun school for a special mission that no pilot would have ever imagined. The movie grossed $705,000 reaching a total of $56,186,138.

Beast is coming in the French box office at 6th place. Directed by Baltasar Kormákur with Idris Elba, Sharlto Copley, and Iyana Halley, this action/thriller movie is about a father and his two teenage daughters who find themselves hunted by a massive rogue lion in the savanna. The movie grossed $644,851.       

Minions: The Rise of Gru lost 4 spots and is now 7th. Directed by Kyle Balda, Brad Ableson, and Jonathan del Val, the movie is about a twelve-year-old’s dream to become the world’s greatest supervillain. The movie grossed this week $583,996 and got a total of $25,841,442.

After being previously 3rd, One Piece Film: Red is at 8th place in France. Directed by Goro Taniguchi with Stephane Excoffier, Mayumi Tanaka, and Marie Braam, this animated movie is about Luffy and his crew  – they are about to attend an eagerly awaited music festival in which the daughter of the legendary pirate Shanks Le Roux will reveal her exceptional voice power, capable of changing the world. This week the movie grossed $561,751 and reached a total of $6,067,077.

Three Thousand Years of Longing just arrived at the box office in France in 9th place. Directed by George Miller with Idris Elba, Tilda Swinton, and Aamito Lagum, the movie is about a lonely scholar who discovers a Djinn in Istambul who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. For the first week, the movie grossed $492,368.        

After being number 4th last week, DC League of Super-Pets is now number 10th. Directed by Jared Stern and Sam Levine, the animated movie is about the new adventure of the super dog Krypto who must master his own powers for a rescue mission when his best friend Superman is kidnapped. The movie grossed $472,163 and got a total of $7,124,903.
