‘Road to the Golden Globes’ Party Kicks Off Season in High Style at TIFF

The countdown to the 83rd Golden Globe Awards officially launched at a star-studded event Sept. 6 at the Four Seasons hotel during the celebratory 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival, in what marked the beginning of the road toward Hollywood’s “Biggest Party of the Year,” which will air Sunday Jan. 11, 2026 on CBS and Paramount+.

Natalie Portman, Ethan Hawke and Elizabeth Olsen were among the stars that came out to help kick off “The Road to the Globes,” the annual hot-ticket bash, this year in partnership with RBC and Four Seasons Hotel Toronto. During its almost two-decade tradition, the Golden Globes soirée continues to champion cinema and salute auteurs and artists from all over the world, this time around with an extra dash of excitement as part of the special 50th anniversary festivities of TIFF.

Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, said, “TIFF is the perfect place to kick off the Road to the Golden Globes — an unforgettable night with incredible talent that set the season in motion. We are so grateful to everyone who joined us to make it such a memorable evening.”

Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst and director Derek Cianfrance arrived straight from the world premiere of their film “Roofman” and brought along co-stars Juno Temple and LaKeith Stanfield. Similarly, Andrew Scott came right after the premiere of “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” and represented the ensemble cast at the party. Sydney Sweeney made her appearance, as did her “Christy” co-star Ben Foster. Tessa Thompson, Tom Bateman, Nina Hoss, Nicholas Pinnock, Imogen Poots and director Nia DaCosta were present ahead of the premiere of “Hedda,” as were Corey Hawkins, who stars in “The Man In The Basement,” and ; Miles Teller repping “Eternity,” Edgar Ramirez who is supporting “It Would Be Night in Caracas” at TIFF; and “Nuremberg” stars Michael Shannon, Richard E. Grant and John Slattery.

Director Chloe Zhao, who returned to TIFF five years after her breakout film “Nomadland” won the 2020 edition of the festival, was on hand showcasing her new “Hamnet,” starring Jessie Buckley, Emily Watson and Paul Mescal, who were all in attendance at the party.

Other notable filmmakers at the event included Swiss-Austrian director Edward Berger whose film “Ballad of a Small Player” comes only a year following “Conclave,” for which he was nominated for Best Director at the previous Golden Globes; Chinese director Shih-Ching Tsou promoting “Left Handed Girl” together with actress Shih-Yuan Ma, who stars in the film, and Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho and his leading man Wagner Moura who stopped by after screening “The Secret Agent” at the festival, their already-celebrated film which premiered in Cannes, where it won the Best Director and Best Actor awards, respectively.
