Hero Moment-Comic-Con 2016: There is Only One Tatiana
Canadian actress Tatiana Maslany was at Comic-Con to talk about the upcoming fifth season of the sci-fi cloning drama Orphan Black. That’s the BBC America series where Tatiana plays not one but a half-dozen alter egos, product of a top seceret cloning experiment. A tour de force which earned her a well deserved Golden Globe nomination in 2014. The story of Sarah Manning and her clone-sisters is coming to an end after season five. Radiant as always, Maslany stopped by the HFPA Comic-Con lounge to talk about the show and the moral and ethical implications which underlie its thriller plot “I guess politically I don’t really have a stance on cloning specifically,” she told us. “But what I am interested in and what I think Orphan Black does, is tread that interesting moral ground of what are we, what should we be allowed to do and what is in our moral rights and what is playing God and what is benefitting science, and what do we have to sacrifice in order to move things forward in the world and what do we have to keep precious and what isn’t up for experimentation and all that?” “I just think what Orphan Black does, is it amuses as opposed to saying anything specific about whether it’s good or bad or right or wrong. It’s more about the humanity of the characters and what it means to be part of a system that owns you and that makes decisions for you.“
