HFPA Members Win Press Club Journalism Awards

Three HFPA members, nominated  in various categories in the Los Angeles Press Club’s 55th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards won prizes. The awards were handed out Sunday night, June 23, at the Crystal Ballroom of the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.   First Prize, Feature (International Journalism): Tina Johnk Christensen, “Back to the Future,” which appeared in the publication Plaza Deco.   Second Prize, Personality Profile (International Journalism) Tina Johnk Christensen, “Viggo Mortensen: Citizen of the World,” Jyllands-Posten.   Second Prize, Columnist/Critic (International Journalism) Janet R. Nepales, “Barbra Streisand on Life, Success and Politics” , Manila Bulletin.   Third Prize, Personality Profile (International Journalism) Ruben V. Nepales, “Charlie Sheen After the Meltdown,” Philippine Daily Inquirer.   Carl Reiner received the President’s Award for impact on media. Sandra Rodriguez Nieto received the Daniel Pearl Award for courage and integrity in journalism.
