INSIDE THE BALLROOM
Star-spotters had a field day in the ballroom of the Beverly Hills Hotel when the Hollywood Foreign Press Association handed out more than $1.2 million to celebrities representing various charities.
The room was abuzz with high octane schmoozing as publicists, stars and HFPA members mingled and table-hopped. Association president Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly chatted with Steven Spielberg and John Travolta while the early arrivals, including Jack Black, Jordana Brewster and the Step Up Revolution stars Kathryn McCormick and Ryan Guzman mingled with the members and posed for photographs.
No wine was served at the pre-lunch reception but the chardonnay flowed during lunch which loosened tongues and led to a free-flowing, laugh-filled lunch.
Bradley Cooper introduced Dr Takla-O’Reilly, telling the guests she was one of the youngest women to receive her commercial pilot’s license at the age of 17.
Dustin Hoffman got the biggest laugh of the lunch when he took the stage and announced:”I’m just here to get nominated.” Don Johnson, hair in a ponytail, looked out at the guests and announced:”I used to get drunk with some of you but that was a long time ago.”
