Jennifer Lawrence: The Evolution of a Style Icon
At the 2014 Golden Globes the Christian Dior gown emphasizes her shape dramatically.
You look how you look. Be comfortable.
Although only 25, Jennifer Lawrence deserves the title of style icon. This generation’s ‘it’ girl, isn’t afraid to speak her mind, follow her inner voice and eschew ‘should’. Caught falling on the red carpet at the Academy Awards, she’s un-phased.

The woman who inspired others to raise their voice for equal pay – after the Sony hack revealed that she was being paid less than her male co-stars in American Hustle –seems comfy in her own skin.
A very different Dior that takes loads of confidence to carry at The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premiere 2013.
She recently admitted that she was initially challenged by the idea that pushing for what she wants might result in appearing unlikeable, but she’s gotten over that. Toss in that she’s a Golden Globe and Oscar winner, headed a franchise (The Hunger Games), and is featured in another (X-Men), handles interviews with humor and aplomb, and you understand why focusing on what she wears might seem superficial.
Yet in seven short years she’s become a staple on the red carpet, through the size of her talent, and as a voice listened to; whether she wants it or not, her choices are emulated by millions of women around the world.
Although she claims that she was initially uncomfortable on the red carpet, her early photos for critically acclaimed movies like The Burning Plain (2008) and Winter’s Bone (2010) reveal that she’s had a handle on what works for her shape since the beginning.

What are you going to do? Be hungry everyday, to make others happy?
At a time when lollipop figures – bodies so emaciated that the head looks disproportionally large – were the lauded shape, Jennifer never attempted to take on another’s idea of the ideal. Instead she worked with her strengths: Youth, stature and curves. The result is a powerhouse of style and unconscious sensuality.
In 2011 at the QVC red carpet the actress played up her youth in a petticoat dress that was both sensual and feminine.
Her hair has been bombshell big, and sleek, short chic.

Whatever she wears, she owns as an extension of her personality on the day.

It is only recently that I discovered the beauty of haute couture.
