Most Improved: The Greatest Golden Globe Awards Style Transformations

Over the years, we’ve witnessed many memorable style moments on the Golden Globes red carpet. From stunning sartorial successes to complete fashion flops, the stars of Tinsletown have given us endless amounts of material — good and bad — to reflect on.
While the majority of celebrities have had their fair share of hits and misses, there are a few in particular who can claim the biggest style redemption of all time. Read on to see our picks for the most impressive transformations from Golden Globes past and present.
Julia Roberts: She’s long been known for her big hair and big smile, but it was the American sweetheart’s big suit that caught our attention back in 1990. The curly-haired redhead turned up to the Golden Globes in a gray menswear ensemble complete with a printed purple tie. While Julia looks stunning no matter what she wears, the star’s red carpet style has only grown stronger year after year. One of our favorite Globes getup from the actress was in 2006. Roberts shined in a simple-yet-sophisticated, knee-length black frock. Julia complemented her gorgeous golden waves with a bejeweled statement necklace of the same hue.
Brad Pitt: He’s always a hunk, but it’s no secret this “Legends of a Fall” standout has upped his fashion anty in recent years. In 1996, a scruffy-bearded Pitt arrived to the 53rd Annual showing with gelled hair and a black suit over top an unbuttoned white collared shirt. In 2009, the actor turned up to the event with a similar haircut, but this time his coif was handsomely-swept to the side. To complete his
dapper transformation, Pitt opted to wear a bow-tie with a crisp white tuxedo top and tailored black suit.
Angelina Jolie: She’s one of the world’s most beautiful women — and her timeless appeal only seems to be enhancing as days pass. In 2000, Angie hit the red carpet in an over-sized white blazer atop a floor-length silk frock and cream pointed-toed heels. In 2012, the brunette bombshell took her satin obsession high fashion, wearing a asymmetric, red and cream Atelier Versace creation. Her jaw-dropping look was one of the most memorable in the show’s history.
Kate Winslet: In 1998, the “Titanic” beauty kept her look ’90s chic. From her messy updo to her choker necklace, Winslet channeled just about every trend of the decade. Fast-forward to 2012, and the newly-blonde bombshell chose to go a more classic route with her black-and-white route with a Jenny Packham gown, Roger Vivier shoes, and Fred Leighton jewels.
Anne Hathaway: They say when you’ve got it, flaunt it, but even with Anne’s picturesque frame, it’s still best to keep something to the imagination. Case and point: Hathaway’s revealing burgundy Elie Saab gown from 2003. While her figure was flawless, Anne’s strapless white Chanel pick from 2013 was the perfect balance of sophistication and skin.
Nicole Kidman: The Aussie actress is the gold standard for star style, and over the years, Kidman shown us both the right and wrong way to wear metallic with elegance. Looking back at 2004, the blonde beauty shined a bit too bright in a flapper-style dress from Yves Saint Laurent. However, Kidman nabbed a spot on the most-improved list with her gold-accented Alexander McQueen number from 2013’s show.
