On Music: Emma Stone, Creating a Personal Soundtrack
Golden Globe winner Emma Stone portrays tennis maverick Billie Jean King in the upcoming movie Battle of the Sexes. Emma, 28, is the same age as Billie Jean was when, in 1973, she met and beat tennis Wall of Famer and self-defined hustler Bobby Riggs, writing an important chapter for equality in sports and elsewhere. The Arizona actress loves the score of the film and she is the first to admit that music affects her acting in a positive way:
“(Music affects me) so much. I sit on set with my headphones in and have different songs for each kind of character or feeling. I think Nicholas Britell did an amazing and subtle job on the score. He did the score for Moonlight as well and I think that’s a really beautiful build that he created in the love story. I can’t listen to music while I’m reading a script, but when I’m sitting on set I definitely listen to music a lot of the time.”
