On Music: Javier Bardem, Passionate Metalhead
Golden Globe winner Javier Bardem is a huge heavy metal fan. He was excited to reveal what he did this past summer:
“I saw Metallica, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Accept, Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, Iron Maiden twice, and Pearl Jam, in less than a month and a half. My ears were bleeding, but my heart was full. I am very much into heavy metal myself. No Chopin, none of that! ,“ he added with laughter. “Penélope doesn’t like that, no. She is more into other stuff. “
When you are on set and getting ready to play a scene, do you play heavy metal music? we asked.
“Yeah. Like for example, for Escobar (in Loving Pablo) I played a lot of heavy metal for the scenes where I have to be aggressive. But it also relaxes me. I can relax listening to Metallica believe it or not. My system is so used to it, I will get relaxed listening to Metallica. I know it sounds weird. And I love drums, so of course, Lars Ulrich and Nico McBrain of Iron Maiden, they are amazing drummers. But of course I listen to all kinds of music, except rap, I am not into rap at all. I never got it and I don’t get it, it’s not part of my system. But I had a chance actually to meet Iron Maiden in Spain and I was like a teenager with New Kids on the Block. I was like ohhhh!”
