On Music: For Toni Collette, Life Would Be Sad Without It
When we recently met Golden Globe winner Toni Collette for the release of two of her movies, Hereditary and Hearts Beat Loud, we made sure that she knew how much we loved her singing voice when she performs a sweet karaoke in Hearts.
“Thank you. I started as a singer, and I got into acting through doing musicals when I was a teenager.”
And how much has music influenced your acting?
“Hugely I think music of all forms is the most evocative and immediately evocative. It can just take you to a place or a feeling and it affects you in a way that is almost mysterious, you don’t understand it, but it can be quite deep and profound and quick. I love music, I make music, I listen to it all the time, I can’t imagine life without music and it would be a sad life to exist without it. So yeah, it was amazing to work on Hearts Beat Loud. The music in that film is so incredible. It’s beautiful and it’s heartwarming and it’s really cool.”
