NAACP Image Awards: Jay Z Wins Outstanding Soundtrack Award on Night Four

Thursday night was NAACP Image Award’s Night 4 out of five streaming presentations leading us to a live show set to air on BET on Saturday, February 26 with Golden Globe nominee Anthony Anderson hosting, Grammy winner Mary J. Blige performing, Golden Globe nominee Samuel L. Jackson receiving the NAACP Chairman’s Award, and Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex receiving the prestigious President’s Award.

 

Thursday night was all about music, and the trophies were handed out in various categories spanning from outstanding music video to outstanding new artist. Jazmine Sullivan received two NAACP Image Awards – for Outstanding Female Artist and for Outstanding Album Heux Tales, while Anthony Hamilton (Love Is the New Black) won NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Male Artist. NAACP Image Award for Outstanding New Artist went to Saweetie (Best Friend feat. Doja Cat).

The Outstanding Soundtrack / Compilation Album Award went to the music score of The Harder They Fall co-written by the Grammy Award winner Jay Z and the film director Jeymes Samuel.

NAACP Vice-Chairman Karen Boykin-Towns announced the recipient of the NAACP Humanitarian of the Year Award:  Darnella Frazier, who “changed the course of history just with the press of a button”.
