Podcast: Martha’s Vineyard African-American Film Festival 2022

It’s been a guest list to rival any A-list event: Barack and Michelle Obama, Tyler Perry, the Rev Al Sharpton, Yara Shahidi, Tamron Hall, Tonya-Lewis Lee, and singer Bobby Brown. They’re just some of the luminaries who’ve already appeared over the past weekend at the Martha’s Vineyard African-American Film Festival. The festival kicked off on Friday, August 5, and ends next Saturday, August 13th, celebrating 20 years of great films as an OSCAR®-qualifying nine-day event.

This year, the festival will also for the first time welcome the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which is celebrating its own 80th anniversary milestone with a special panel covering diversity and inclusion, moderated by HFPA member, KJ Matthews.

But before that, KJ Matthews sat down with the founders of the festival – Floyd Rance and Stephanie Tavares-Rance – to talk about the legacy of this festival on a special episode of the Golden Globes Around The World podcast series.
